It is used in adults to treat:

• Peripheral and central neuropathic pain
• Epilepsy (fits or seizures) in combination with other medicines
• Generalized Anxiety Disorder

• Controls seizures by reducing abnormal nerve cell activity in the brain.
• Acts as a specific analgesic for peripheral and central neuropathic pain.
• Blocks transmission of pain signals across the nervous system.
• Relieves anxiety by reducing the release of brain chemicals (GABA) causing abnormal mood stimulation and anxiety.

✔️ Side Effects of Neugalin 150mg Capsule

Dizziness, somnolence, dry mouth, edema, blurred vision, weight gain, and aberrant thinking

✔️ Quick Suggestions:

• Neugalin 150 should be taken as per the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor.
• It may cause sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
• It may cause blurring or loss of vision. Inform your doctor immediately if you notice any vision changes.
• Inform your doctor if you develop any unusual changes in mood or behavior, new or worsening depression, or suicidal thoughts or behavior.
• Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may worsen your underlying condition.

• Management of neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy
• Management of post-herpetic neuralgia
• Adjunctive therapy for adult patients with partial-onset seizures
• Management of fibromyalgia
• Neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury

✔️ Pharmacology

• Derivative of inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)
• Binds with high affinity to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system
• Oral bioavailability ≥90%
• Renally excreted, with an elimination half-life of 6.3 hours in subjects with normal renal function

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Neugalin 150mg Capsule

Adult Dose:

Oral Neuropathic Pain, Postherpetic Neuralgia:

• Initial: 150 mg/day; may increase to 300 mg/day after 3-7 days.
• Max: 600 mg/day after a 7-day interval.
• All doses are administered in 2 or 3 divided doses.

Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathic Pain:

• Initial: 50 mg PO q8hr
• Maintenance: May increase to 100 mg PO q8hr within 1 week, not to exceed 300 mg/day

Adjunct in Partial Seizures:

• Adult: Initially, 150 mg/day; may increase to 300 mg/day after a week.
• Max: 600 mg/day.
• All doses are given in 2 or 3 divided doses.

Fibromyalgia:

• Initial: 150 mg/day; may increase to 300 mg/day after a week.
• Max: 450 mg/day if needed.
• All doses are administered in 2 or 3 divided doses.

Child Dose:

Safety and efficacy not established.

Renal Dose:

Renal Impairment: Haemodialysis:

• 25-100 mg immediately after each 4-hour hemodialysis session.

CrCl (ml/min) Dosage Recommendation:

• 30 to <60: 75 mg/day. Max: 300 mg/day. All doses are given in 2 or 3 divided doses.
• 15 to <30: Initially, 25-50 mg/day. Max: 150 mg/day. All doses are given as a single dose or in 2 divided doses.
• <15: Initially, 25 mg/day. Max: 75 mg/day. All doses are given as a single dose.

✔️ Interaction

• No significant interactions with other antiepileptic medicines or oral contraceptives
• Effects of ethanol and lorazepam may be potentiated by pregabalin

Known hypersensitivity to Pregabalin or its components

• Pregnancy category C; benefits should outweigh risks
• Use in nursing mothers only if benefits clearly outweigh risks

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Gradual tapering recommended to avoid withdrawal symptoms
• Monitoring of creatinine kinase levels advised
• Discontinue if myopathy is suspected or if creatinine kinase levels are elevated
